Catalytic Converter Protection Cover

  • How do catalytic converter covers work? By blocking access to the converter using a custom fabrication made to fit your specific model vehicle.
  • Why do we say deter and not prevent? Because with enough time and privacy, a thief can cut through any piece of metal. Once a thief sees a catalytic cover, they will move on to an easy target.
  • Will Service Retention increase for the selling dealership? While the Catsguard Catalytic Converter Protective Cover is designed to easily allow most service activities, you’ll want to point out to customers that a unique dealer tool is required to remove the cover if required.

The Catsguard Difference

  • Our protective covers are made with 3/16” 5052 grade aluminum which makes them strong enough to protect your catalytic converter but still lightweight and corrosion resistant.
  • We use tamper-proof screws to attach the cover to the existing holes in your vehicle’s chassis.
  • We incorporate strategically placed heat dissipation features in all our covers.
  • All our catalytic protective covers are designed, tested and made in the USA. They come with a lifetime warranty

Why should I protect my catalytic converters?

  • Thieves target these devices because they are relatively easy to steal and contain precious metals such as platinum and rhodium.
  • Depending on the age and type of the catalytic converter, the thieves can get hundreds of dollars per unit leaving the owner with thousands of dollars in damage.

How are they stealing my catalytic converters?

Thieves will use a battery-powered saw to cut through the exhaust piping and escape after only a few minutes. In their haste, they cut through oxygen sensor wiring, exhaust hangers, and other exhaust pipes forward and/or behind the catalytic converter, causing thousands of dollars in damage.

How can I protect my catalytic converters?

There are a couple of ways:

  • You can inscribe the serial number on it, but this doesn’t prevent the thief from taking it.
  • You can install a hard protective cover over them, blocking access making it much more difficult to remove and steal.
